One on One
'The essence of my father's teaching is this: it is not that the person needs to accommodate him- or herself to yoga, but rather the yoga practice must be tailored to fit each person"
"Yoga serves the individual, and does so through inviting transformation rather than by giving information"
- T.K.V. Desikachar
"Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups."(iayt.org)
What is Viniyoga?
Viniyoga is an authentic and traditional yoga approach, consisting of adapting the tools of yoga to a unique body mind.
How these teachings came to me?
This lineage comes from Nathamuni, through many generations, to T. Krishnamacharya (1888-1989)
T. Krishnamacharya, teacher of T.K.V. Desikachar, Indra Devi and others
Indra Devi, teacher of Federico and Cristina Enriquez (my first teachers)
Gary Kraftsow, teacher of Mary Hilliker (my mentor & yoga therapist)
Each person is unique
Each person is unique. In Viniyoga, optimally in a One on One setting, the practice is designed for that person, according to their personal needs, condition, possibilities, limitations and interests.
A Yoga Therapy intervention includes initially an interview, assessment, setting goals and defining priorities, and the design of a practice tailored for you. In subsequent sessions there is a reassessment to refine your personal practice.
I am a Certified Yoga Therapist accredited by the International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) and the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI), and offer individual Yoga Therapy both in person and online, small group sessions and series in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar.
I reside in Belmont, California, where I hold my in person Yoga Therapy practice. Online sessions are held on Zoom.
