These are a few quotes that I put together, in preparation for Yoga Meditation events at the San Mateo County Libraries, San Francisco Bay Area (U.S.A.), in the frame of the National Suicide Prevention month.
It has been very helpful for me to say out loud what I'm grateful for, to keep a "Gratitude Journal", and to feel grateful and cultivate that feeling. It has also been very sweet to hear from my students and learn what they are grateful for.
Thank you all!
Quotes:
“Gratitude…prepares the ground of our being for love…and it is good to see that, in the end, when all is said and done – love prevails” – bell hooks
“Practicing gratitude is how we acknowledge that there is enough and that we are enough…Practicing gratitude invites joy into our lives…
…say out loud what you are grateful for” (“Actively practicing gratitude”)
– Brené Brown
“The root of joy is gratefulness...It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful.”
― David Steindl-Rast
“There is a wave of gratefulness because people are becoming aware how important this is and how this can change our world. It can change our world in immensely important ways, because if you're grateful, you're not fearful, and if you're not fearful, you're not violent. If you're grateful, you act out of a sense of enough and not of a sense of scarcity, and you are willing to share. If you are grateful, you are enjoying the differences between people, and you are respectful to everybody, and that changes this power pyramid under which we live.”
― David Steindl-Rast
“When we live in the spirit of gratitude, there will be much happiness in our life. The one who is grateful is the one who has much happiness while the one who is ungrateful will not be able to have happiness.”
― Tich Nhat Hanh
“Gratitude cultivates us for love and makes us fertile ground for deeper human connection”
– Michelle Wonsley
