This Morning, by Susana Laborde-Blaj

Standing on a little bridge is something that I love to do, every morning, usually before sunrise. Every morning is so different, and in a way that's where its beauty resides, a fleeting moment that will not happen again. This morning was cloudy and no colors or textures were apparent, which invited me to stay a bit longer, letting myself be pulled into stillness and quiet.

Losing a bit track of time, I suddenly felt a car passing behind me. The car stopped right there, in the center of the bridge, right behind my back.

I felt the car as it was approaching, and my mind began to race while I noticed that it was slowing down. I wondered why, and felt my body bracing for a moment, afraid.

Once it stopped, I turned to face it.

A friendly man was broadly smiling, and leaned from the conductor's seat, so that he could talk to me. "Are you just enjoying the view?", "Yes", I answered, smiling. "It was very sweet to see you there, just standing, having your moment".

Surprised, I thanked him. Then he left.

The encounter felt so precious and magical. My system softened and opened; emotion bubbled to the surface.

Gratitude.
