If you stumble, make it part of the dance
- River Maria Urke
Watching a romantic comedy, "Champagne Problems", a dialogue between two characters caught my attention:
-"You'd be crazy to not be feeling crazy right now"
-"Thanks. I wanna be more like you. I wanna be fearless in love"
-"You think I'm fearless?"
-"Mm-hmm"
-"I stumble all the time."
-"You do?"
-"I've just learned to make it part of the dance".
Searching for that quote somewhere, I found about River Maria Urke, her website, and her books, one of which is called "Stumbled & Standing"
On the main page of her website, she writes:
Heart of a Poet ~Eyes of an Artist
As I glide with stumbled steps
visions stir my muses
in rhythms of creative flow
words match strokes
canvases fill as stanzas build
needs and dreams fulfill
*
I share my voice with you.
After some inner silence, my mind goes to words by William Stafford, from the poem "Cutting Loose":
Arbitrary, a sound comes, a reminder
that a steady center is holding
all else. If you listen, that sound
will tell you where it is and you
can slide your way past trouble.
And also, words from his poem "You and Art",
Your straying feet find the great dance,
walking alone.
And you live on a world where stumbling
always leads home.
So be it Ainsi soit-il Así sea
